Privacy policy

We write about privacy, so it would be poor form to quietly track you while doing it. This page describes exactly what happens when you load a page here.
What we do not do
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no Meta Pixel and no other analytics script on this site.
- No advertising cookies. We serve no display ads and set no advertising or profiling cookies of our own.
- No accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter. There is nothing here to register for, so there is no user database.
- No comment system and no social widgets. No third-party embeds that would phone home as the page loads.
Because of this, the site sets no cookies that require consent, which is why you are not asked for any.
What does get processed
Server and CDN logs
The site is served through Cloudflare. Like any web server, it records the request: IP address, timestamp, the page requested, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. This is standard technical logging used for delivery, caching and protection against abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you and we do not combine it with anything else. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare acts as our processor; its own privacy terms apply to that processing.
Google Search Console
We verify the site in Google Search Console so we can see which search queries the site appears for. Google reports this to us in aggregate. We do not receive, and cannot see, information about individual visitors from it.
Affiliate links
When you click a link to NordVPN, NordPass or Surfshark, you leave this site and the provider's own tracking begins, typically a cookie that records that the visit came from us, so a commission can be attributed. That processing is the provider's, under the provider's privacy policy, not ours. We receive only aggregate figures: how many clicks and how many subscriptions. We never receive your name, email address or payment details. See our affiliate disclosure for the commercial side of this.
Fonts
The English landing page loads one typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and Google sees your IP address in the process. If you would rather it did not, a content blocker will stop that request without otherwise affecting the page.
If you write to us, we keep the message so we can reply and, where it is a correction, so we have a record of why a page changed. We do not add you to any list.
Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK you have the right to request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data we hold about you, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. In Denmark, that is Datatilsynet. In practice we hold almost nothing: unless you have emailed us, we are unlikely to have anything about you beyond entries in the server log.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add analytics or any other tracking, we will change this page first, update the date at the top, and note it in the update log on the affected pages.
